Mr. Donald Stewart

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what was the total amount spent in Scotland by his Department in each of the last five years; and what proportion this represents of his Department's total expenditure.

Mr. William Rodgers

Information for 1974–75 is not yet available. The other figures, based on actual expenditure in each year, are as follows:

Mr. Onslow

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what estimate he has formed of the likely value of the Offset Agreement with the Federal Government of Germany for the year ending 31st December 1975 for both civil and military purchases.

Mr. Mason

Only military purchases under the Offset Agreement are monitored by Her Majesty's Government and it is not our practice to prepare forward estimates of the value of these.

Mr. Onslow

asked the Secretary of State for Defence (1) what have been the major purchases of British civil and military goods and services by Germany under the current Offset Agreement;

(2) what was the total value of purchases by Germany of British civil goods and services for each of the four years during which the current Offset Agreement has been in force.

Mr. Mason

Since only military purchases are monitored by Her Majesty's Government, no figures for purchases of civil goods and services are available. As regards military purchases, the annual figures are as follows:

DM million
1st April 1971–31st December 1971 109
1st January 1972–31st December 1972 277
1st January 1973–31st December 1973 218
1st January 1974–31st December 1974 180
Total 784
