§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what would be the additional annual cost of enabling women over the age of 60 years to benefit from retirement pensions irrespective of whether or not their husbands had reached retirement age.
§ Mr. Alec Jones:It would cost about £300 million a year to pay a pension of £6 .90 a week at 60 to wives whose husbands are under 65 or have not retired.
