§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what would be the estimated annual cost of paying those widowed before they reach the age of 50 years a full wodow's pension as if they had been widowed after reaching the age of 50 years.
§ Mr. Alec Jones:The estimated annual cost to the National Insurance Fund of paying a full rate widow's pension of £11.60—the weekly rate payable from 7th April—to women widowed before age 50 is £35 million. There would be some saving in supplementary benefit.
