HC Deb 26 March 1975 vol 889 c198W
Mr. Torney

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether she is satisfied with the rules relating to unemployment benefit for seasonal workers; and if she will make a statement.

Mr. O'Malley

We are aware that concern has been expressed about this matter, and my right hon. Friend has decided to refer to the National Insurance Advisory Committee the question of the entitlement of seasonal workers to unemployment benefit. The present rules are longstanding and we feel the time is ripe for them to be reappraised in the light of present-day employment conditions. Meanwhile, the present rules will continue to apply.
