§ Mr. John SilkinThe number of visitors to the Peak District and the160W Yorkshire Dales in 1974 has been estimated at 20 million and 8 million per annum respectively. A survey undertaken in 1973 suggested that the roads in the North York Moors catered for some 11 million people on recreational trips, but not all these journeys ended within the national park. No estimates are available for the Lake District or for all national parks.
