§ Mr. Crosland:The number of offices receiving salaries or fees is roughly 1.300: 500W the total remuneration of their holders is about £1,200,000 per annum; 35 of these office holders receive salaries in excess of £4,999 per annum. Of the 1,300 office holders, 257—who are members of rent assessment panels—are appointed by the Lord Chancellor.
