§ Mr. Edward Lyonsasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many holders of current United Kingdom passports are estimated to have died in the last convenient 12 months' period; and what percentage of these passports have been returned.
§ Mr. Ennals:There is no basis for making a realistic estimate of the incidence of death among United Kingdom passport holders. During 1974, 3,672 passports of deceased persons were surrendered to the London Passport Office. Statistics are not available in respect of the other passport offices in the United Kingdom and of passport issuing posts overseas.
