Mr. Hooson

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) by what percentage average incomes for salaried workers employed in local government have increased in the last four years;

(2) by what percentage average wages for workers employed in local government have increased in the last four years.

Mr. Oakes

For all employees, average earnings in money terms rose by just over 100 per cent. between 1970–71 and 1974–75. Comprehensive separate figures for wage earners and for salary earners are not available.
