HC Deb 30 June 1975 vol 894 cc331-2W
Mr. Donald Stewart

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what progress has been made in requiring manufacturers of prepacked and frozen foods to have the dating marked on the container.

Mr. Strang

I refer the hon. Member to the statement I made in answer to the Question from my hon. Friend the Member for Wood Green (Mrs. Butler) on 21st March 1975. The discussions forecast in that statement are now taking place.

Mrs. Joyce Butler

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what consideration he has given to the representations made to him by the Coeliac society that food labelling regulations should be amended to indicate the starch standard of manufactured foods; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Strang

The Food Standards Committee was asked by my right hon. Friend in January to review the labeling of food and I understand that representations on a number of points have been received from the Coeliac Society. Consideration will be given to all the points which have been made.
