§ Mr. Greville Jannerasked the Lord President of the Council whether the conditions in the police mess at St. Stephen's are equal to the minimum standards laid down by the Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act; and whether he will now propose alternative messing accommodation for the House of Commons police, before there are any further floods of sewage into the present accommodation.
§ Mr. Edward ShortI have asked the authorities of the House to make arrangements for a representative of the Health and Safety Executive to make another visit to the premises allotted to the police at St. Stephen's Entrance. I have received assurances from the Department of the Environment that it is taking steps to ensure that there will be no further flood of sewage into the present accommodation.
