§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Prime Minister if he will in future disregard the 2W element of inability to obtain employment after retirement that has hitherto been a factor in determining top civil servants' pay, in view of the fact that these persons are now taking highly-paid employment in retirement.
§ The Prime MinisterThe Government intend to maintain the existing arrangements for the reference of Higher Civil Service pay to the Top Salaries Review Body, which will no doubt continue to take into account all relevant factors when making its recommendations.
