Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection if she will consider appointing a representative to the Yorkshire Electricity Consultative Council from the Keighley area.

Mr. Maclennan

I shall be considering additions to the membership of the council shortly and will bear my hon. Friend's suggestion in mind.

Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection if she will consider the possibility of instituting a system of direct elections to the Yorkshire Electricity Consultative Council at the same time as the local government elections for 1975.

Mr. Maclennan

I have asked the National Consumer Council to review the present arrangements for consumer representation in the nationalisel industries. Until I have receive its report I do not propose to make any change in the present statutory provisions for the appointment of members of the electricity consultative councils.
