§ Mr. Biffenasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what representations he has made to the EEC Commission concerning the proposed potato regime; and if he will make a statement indicating what would be the status of the Potato Marketing Board operating within the Community free trade principles as enshrined in the Treaty of Rome.
§ Mr. BishopNo detailed discussions have taken place in the Community on the contents of a regulation for all potatoes, and the EEC Commission has issued no proposals for a common regime. My right hon. Friend has made it clear, however, that we shall not accept any regulation of which the contents or timing would be harmful to the interests of this country.
