HC Deb 21 January 1975 vol 884 cc336-7W
Mr. Michael Latham

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what proportion of the country's electricity requirements is now being provided by nuclear power stations; what is the expected figure for 1980; and what proportion of the 1980 figure will be provided by AGRs and Magnox reactors, respectively.

Mr. John Smith

About 10 per cent. of the country's electricity is now generated in nuclear stations. If the trend of demand continues, current expectations are that this figure will be about 15 per cent. in 1980, AGR stations contributing three-fifths and Magnox stations the remainder.
