§ Mr. Kilfedderasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make proposals to ensure that consumers in the Province are afforded the same legal protection as consumers in Great Britain; and if he will set out in the Official Report the principal protection provided by the law in Great Britain which is not currently provided by the law in Northern Ireland.
§ Mr. OrmeThe following consumer protection legislation, which applies in Great Britain, has not yet been followed in Northern Ireland: Hearing Aid Council Act 1968; Unsolicited Goods and Services282W Act 1971; Consumer Protection (Amendment) Act 1971.
Steps have already been taken to ensure that the law in Northern Ireland will be brought into line as soon as possible.
