HC Deb 10 February 1975 vol 886 cc58-9W
18. Mr. Dykes

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection what representations have been received so far from the public in regard to the new consumer advice centres; and if she will make a further statement on the further development of the centres in the light of experience.

32. Mr. Ioan Evans

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection what further progress has been made in establishing consumer advice centres.

Mr. Alan Williams

The few representations I have received have generally welcomed the establishment of consumer advice centres, although a minority have questioned the need for them. There are currently about 50 centres. The pace of development is a matter for local authorities to decide in the light of their financial situation and of Government advice on expenditure on such services.
