HL Deb 05 February 1975 vol 356 c974WA
Lord SEGAL

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the cause of the delay in shipment of goods by the Crown Agents to St. Lucia; and whether, in particular, items 5 to 65 intended for the Hotel Trades School of the Morne Fortune Technical College will arrive there in time to permit their installation before the Royal Visit to St. Lucia in March 1975.

Baroness LLEWELYN-DAVIES of HASTOE

My Lords, there are frequent sipping opportunities from the United Kingdom to St. Lucia and delays in the shipment of goods by the Crown Agents are due to late delivery by suppliers. In the particular example given, more than half the items were supplied from stock and shipped last July but the balance included cooking equipment requiring special manufacture which could not be completed until January. All outstanding items were either despatched during January or are being shipped now for arrival in St. Lucia before the end of February.
