§ Mr. DeakinsNo. It would be contrary to our interests to encourage other Community countries to restrict their cotton yarn imports. One of our objectives is that developing countries' textiles should obtain increasing access to their markets. The House will be aware that we have taken steps to enable the United Kingdon to continue to restrict cotton yarn imports from previously controlled 499W sources, and to obtain new restraints on Greek and Turkish yarn.

§ Mr. DeakinsNot yet. The EEC Commission is pursuing the matter on our behalf with the Greek and Turkish Governments. As announced on 20th December, the United Kingdom has introduced import licensing on cotton yarn from these countries and consignments shipped after that date will be taken into account when the quota levels have been fixed.
