§ Dr. OwenFor the purposes of the information following, which relates to doctors in the NHS in England and Wales, a doctor temporarily out of the NHS—for example, between posts—on 30th September is counted as having left during the previous year. The numbers of doctors leaving also includes those lost to the NHS through death, retirement, emigration and transfer to non-NHS posts.
