HC Deb 19 December 1975 vol 902 c870W
Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he has a further statement to make on the control of sheep scab.

Mr. Strang

Consultations with the farmers' unions and other interests are now sufficiently advanced for me to announce that the dipping of sheep against sheep scab will be required throughout England and Wales and in Scotland in the early autumn of 1976.

As an immediate measure, there will also be an additional dipping requirement, during a period beginning as early as possible in January, in those counties in central England which were formed into a movement restriction area with effect from 3rd December. In view of the recent spread of the disease, a few other counties may have to be included in this operation.
