§ Mr. Michael Marshallasked the Secretary of State for Industry what is the percentage estimate by the Post Office Corporation of the number of first-class letters that fail to arrive within 24 hours of posting and of the number of second-class letters that fail to arrive within 48 hours of posting.
§ Mr. Gregor MackenzieI am advised by the Post Office that figures for November show that 91.3 per cent. of first-class mail was delivered on the next working day after posting and 88.6 per cent. of second-class mail was delivered on the second working day after posting. If only because of factors outside the Post Office's control 100 per cent. achievement is impossible.
