HC Deb 15 December 1975 vol 902 c446W
Mr. Christopher Price

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is his policy towards the residential status in Great Britain of those overseas students who require a period of practical training as part of their education courses and cannot at present receive this because of the unemployment situation.

Mr. Alexander W. Lyon

Overseas students who are required to undergo practical training as part of a sandwich course are, for immigration control purposes, regarded as full-time students. If, guided by their college, they are unable to find acceptable practical training, their continued stay as students is sympathetically considered in the light of their personal circumstances.
