HC Deb 15 December 1975 vol 902 cc513-4W
Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many miles of the A470 are dual carriageway.

Mr. John Morris

13.1.

Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Wales (1) what is his estimate of the cost of erecting crash barriers along all the dualled sections of the A470 on (a) the nearside lanes and (b) along the centre of the carriageway; and when he plans to undertake this work:

(5) how many dualled miles of the A470 have crash barriers on (a) the nearside lane (b) the offside land and (c) both lanes.

Mr. John Morris

6.5, 5.7 and 5.1 miles respectively. The cost of erecting safety barriers varies with the nature of the terrain and soil conditions. Present day average cost is around £10 per yard. Additional barriers will be provided if they are found to be justified.
