intends to seek parliamentary approval to introduce those provisions contained in the Lotteries Act 1975 which will allow societies and local authorities to promote lotteries.
§ Dr. SummerskillSeveral sections of the Act and, in particular, Section 13, which increased the permitted financial limits on certain lotteries promoted by societies for charitable, sporting or other purposes, came into operation on 5th September. Parliamentary approval of regulations under Section 10, opening the way to the promotion of such lotteries on a larger scale and to the promotion of lotteries by local authorities, will be sought after the consultations required by the Act have been completed.
