Approved local authority expenditure on law centres in 1975–76 attracting grant-aid at the rate of 75 per cent. under the urban programme, is as follows:

Several sections of the Act and, in particular, Section 13, which increased the permitted financial limits on certain lotteries promoted by societies for charitable, sporting or other purposes, came into operation on 5th September. Parliamentary approval of regulations under Section 10, opening the way to the promotion of such lotteries on a larger scale and to the promotion of lotteries by local authorities, will be sought after the consultations required by the Act have been completed.
