asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement on the attitude of Her Majesty's Government to the so-called IRA cease-fire.

, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 10th December 1975], gave the following information:

Following the unilateral declaration by the Provisionals of their first cease-fire last year I reaffirmed to the House on 14th January that the actions of the security forces in Northern Ireland would be related to the level of any activity that might occur. This remains the policy, and the Government will not be deterred from taking all the measures necessary to deal with acts of terrorism from whatever quarter they arise.
