HC Deb 11 December 1975 vol 902 c298W
19. Mr. Jim Spicer

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, what measures have been taken to restructure the fishing industry in anticipation of an Icelandic 200 miles exclusive economic zone.

Mr. Bishop

Such measures would be premature at the present. Any planned restructuring should be undertaken in the light of facts about the size and nature of future fishing opportunities open to us, and will clearly depend on the outcome of the discussions which Her Majesty's Government are actively pursuing in a number of contexts.

54. Mr. Grimond

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether any restrictions have been proposed or placed upon fishing in British waters or landings at British ports by Icelandic trawlers.

Mr. Bishop

The Government have imposed no restrictions on Icelandic trawlers or on the landing of Icelandic fish.
