HL Deb 11 December 1975 vol 366 c1200WA
Lady KINLOSS

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether their attention has been drawn to the existence of a device, designed for the protection of the readers of electricity meters against dogs, which emits a sound undetectable by the human ear and whether they have considered the problems which this device may create in the field of crime prevention.

Lord HARRIS of GREENWICH

A device known as "The Dog Chaser" has recently come to the Government's notice. It is claimed to be capable of stopping an untrained dog from barking or from attacking a person using it. It has not been found effective against a dog trained to stop people or to search. Its possible use in the commission of crime will be closely watched.
