§ 45. Mr. Durantasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what provisions have been made to prevent the possible spread of arboreal diseases and to prevent a recurrence of Dutch Elm disease.
§ Mr. StrangStatutory provisions prohibit the importation of live forest trees of the most important coniferous genera from all parts of the world and of elm plants from outside Europe. Further provisions regulate the landing of wood of oak, sweet chestnut, elm and of any of the coniferous genera from various parts of the world. These requirements give protection to forest trees against the introduction of known pests and diseases not present in this country.
