§ Mr. MulleyAs a result of the BBC's adult literacy project and of local publicity many thousands of people are coming forward both to seek help in improving their reading and writing skills and to act as volunteer tutors.
Local education authorities and voluntary organisations are responding to the increased demand for adult literacy provision and are being helped in their work by the Adult Literacy Resource Agency which was established by the National Institute of Adult Education to administer the £1 million provided by the Government to assist in combating adult illiteracy.
