§ Mr. Rookerasked the Secretary of State for Employment what estimate he has of the numbers declared redundant in each of the past three years who were not eligible for statutory redundancy pay; and what proportion these formed of all persons made redundant.
§ Mr. Harold WalkerNo precise information is available about the number of redundant employees who do not qualify for statutory redundancy pay. A survey carried out in 1969, however, indicated that in 1968 about 55 per cent, of total redundancies did not qualify. On this basis, figures for the last three years are:
Period Number of employees concerned in rebate etc. payments from the Redundancy Fund Estimated number of employees who did not qualify 1972 297,120 363,000 1973 176,919 216,000 1974 182,161 223,000 1st January to 30th September 1975 248,470 304,000
