HC Deb 09 December 1975 vol 902 cc101-2W
Mr. Moonman

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will consider immediately convening a conference of all concerned with the entertainment and leisure industry to define a strategy and at the same time to explore practical steps of security in helping to cope with the bombers.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

No. Advice on the security of premises should be sought from the police, who are always ready to give it and have already done so on a considerable scale. My Department has recently made available to chief officers of police guidance dealing particularly with commercial premises. I keep all measures for combating terrorism under constant review.

Mr. Moonman

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what discussions he has had with chief constables about assisting restaurateurs throughout the United Kingdom in dealing with security, in the light of current bombing incidents.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

I am in constant touch with the police about all aspects of protection against terrorism.

Mr. Moonman

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many meetings have taken place between his Department, chief constables and restaurateurs concerning security against bomb attacks.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

My discussions are with the police.
