§ Mr. Norman Lamontasked the Lord President of the Council whether the Government will give consideration to implementation by stages over a number of years of the recommendations of the Select Committee on Assistance to Private Members, chaired by the hon. Member for Wokingham (Mr. van Straubenzee).
§ Mr. Edward ShortProposals involving increased public expenditure must be closely scrutinised at the present time, but the Government will continue to seek to improve Members' facilities as the need and opportunity arises, taking account of the recommendations made by the Select Committee on Members' Facilities.
