HC Deb 05 December 1975 vol 901 cc418-9W
Mr. Onslow

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection what quality control is exercised over imports of Soviet industrial equipment into the United Kingdom.

Mr. Alan Williams

There are no legislative requirements governing quality control on imported industrial equipment. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to satisfy himself that the equipment is of acceptable quality for his purposes. Industrial equipment accounts for only a small part of our imports from the USSR.
