HC Deb 05 December 1975 vol 901 cc428-9W
Mr. Fitt

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what evidence his Department has of difficulties being experienced by contractors in tendering for house building contracts in the west Belfast area; and what action his Department proposes to take.

Mr. Concannon

Vandalism, theft and the scarcity of certain types of skilled worker have resulted in a poor response to invitations to tender for housing contracts in the West Belfast area. Nevertheless, since November 1974 the use of alternative methods of contract and construction has led to the approval of eight schemes involving the construction of 622 dwellings in the area.
