§ Mr. Martenasked the Secretary of State for Employment how many disabled people known to his Department were considered to be (a) incapable of work and (b) capable of but not available for work, at the latest date for which figures are available.
§ Mr. Harold WalkerI am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the only figures available relate to those on the register of disabled persons, of whom in April 1975 there were 557,217, most of whom are in employment. In October 1975, 72,500 disabled people on the register were also registered as unemployed; all are regarded as capable of and available for work.
