HC Deb 05 December 1975 vol 901 c464W
Sir G. de Freitas

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what plans he has for the future of the Corby Development Corporation; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John Silkin

I have come to the conclusion, after discussions with the Corby Development Corporation, the Corby District Council and the Northamptonshire County Council, that the likely rate of growth in Corby is not such as to justify an extension of the designated area of the new town. I shall in due course be considering the future of the Development Corporation in the light of further discussions with them and the local authorities about responsibility for the future development of the town.
