HC Deb 05 December 1975 vol 901 c399W
52. Mr. Tinn

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what was the number of charity stamps printed for the issue last January in aid of the health and handicapped group of charities, the number of stamps sold so far, the sum of money paid by the Post Office to the charities and the amount of money charged as expenses by the Post Office.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

This is a matter for the Post Office, which tells me that it will make an announcement on the final results of the 12-month charity stamp experiment when sales close in January 1976. The Post Office has already announced the results of the first four weeks of the experiment during which the stamps were on general sale over post office counters: 5½ million stamps were sold; £57,000 was paid to the Charity Trustees; and additional costs incurred by the Post Office were £31,000 of which the Post Office waived £4,000 included in the sum paid to the charities.
