HC Deb 05 December 1975 vol 901 c459W
Mr. Pardoe

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will seek to introduce new regulations governing the efficiency of braking systems for British cars sold in the home market to give positive indication of any variation of pressure between duplicated circuits.

Mr. Pardoe

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps he proposes to take to ensure that devices designed to indicate pressure differential in split circuit braking systems always indicate to the driver that they are working correctly.

Dr. Gilbert

The European Community Directive on Braking contains provisions on both these matters. I am consulting with the motor industry about the date from which passenger cars sold on the United Kingdom home market should meet its standards.
