§ Dr. Edmund Marshallasked the Secretary of State for the Environment why it is his intention to close Boothferry bridge on the A614 trunk road to vehicular traffic between 13th December and 18th December 1975; and whether this closure can be deferred until after the opening of the M62 Ouse bridge next year.
§ Mr. CarmichaelThis has become urgent because the hot summer affected the surface and the vibration now caused by the passage of heavy vehicles could result in serious damage if allowed to continue. The closure cannot safely be deferred.
