HC Deb 04 December 1975 vol 901 cc733-4W
Mr. Arnold Shaw

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will publish in the Official Report a table showing her estimate of the total pension entitlement that will be lost to a hospital consultant with periods of previous service, shown at five year intervals and divided into columns showing each grade and merit award, in the event of voluntary resignation from the National Health Service.

Dr. Owen

The NHS Superannuation Scheme includes arrangements for preserving the accrued pension rights of any member who, on voluntary resignation, either has at least five years' pensionable service or had received pensionable pay exceeding £5,000 in a year. It is most unlikely that any consultant will fail to satisfy one of these conditions and therefore he need lose none of his accrued pension rights. It is not possible to produce meaningful estimates of additional pension that might have been earned by future service.
