asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when he expects to be able to announce the results of his discussion on the future of the common fiisheries policy.

Mr. Strang

The Commission is expected very shortly to produce proposals to serve as a basis for talks within the Community on the future of the common fisheries policy. My right hon. Friend and I fully appreciate the importance of this to the fishing industry and the Government are well aware of the need for urgency. I cannot at this stage predict the date on which my right hon. Friend will be able to announce the outcome.
