HC Deb 02 December 1975 vol 901 c573W
Mr. Jim Marshall

asked the Secretary of State for Trade (1) if any quotas under tariff headings 60.04 and 60.05 have been exceeded so far in 1975; and for which countries;

(2) if he will take action to ensure that imports in excess of the import quotas for tariff headings 60.04 and 60.05 under the MFA Agreement with Hong Kong and the unilateral action against Taiwan are deducted from the quotas agreed for 1976;

(3) what action he has so far taken in cases where the quotas for tariff headings 60.04 and 60.05 under the MFA Agreement have been exceeded; and what action he intends to take when future quotas are exceeded.

Mr. Shore

Only in the case of Taiwan have some quotas for these headings been exceeded in 1975, and the excess has been set against the quotas for Taiwan for 1976. I would expect to follow the same practice if any other case arose.
