HC Deb 02 December 1975 vol 901 c536W
Mr. David Steel

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he is satisfied with the scope of reclamation and amenity grants to local authorities.

Mr. John Silkin

I assume that the hon. Member refers to the grants at present payable to local authorities to enable derelict land to be brought into use or improved in appearance. As I announced in reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Llanelli (Mr. Davies) on 31st January 1975, new schemes in assisted areas and derelict land clearance areas are to become eligible for 100 per cent. Exchequer grants, but there are no proposals to increase the scope of the grants in present economic circumsaances.
