§ 18. Mr. Greville Jannerasked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he can now assess the effect of the implementation of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 on the rate of industrial accidents.
§ Mr. Harold WalkerI am informed by the Chairman of the Health and Safety Commission that it is too early to try to assess the effect of the Act on industrial accidents.
§ 40. Mr. Cryerasked the Secretary of State for Employment how many prosecutions on indictment under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and related legislation have taken place during 1975 to the most recent practicable date.
§ Mr. Harold WalkerUp to 28th November 1975, one company had been tried on indictment and fined £800 with costs. A second company is awaiting trial at a Crown Court. All information had been preferred by inspectors of the Health and Safety Executive. I have not been 507W informed of any cases preferred by inspectors of local authorities.
§ 44. Mr. Hooleyasked the Secretary of State for Employment when a decision will be made on the siting of the head-quarters of the Health and Safety Commission.
§ Mr. Harold WalkerThe Health and Safety Commission has informed me that a thorough study is now being undertaken on the question of its ultimate location. The Chairman of the Commission expects to be able to let my right hon. Friend have his recommendation in the early part of the New Year.
