HC Deb 02 December 1975 vol 901 c509W
24. Mr. Ashley

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what percentage of registered disabled people is unemployed; and what plans he has to improve their employment prospects.

Mr. Harold Walker

13 per cent. of registered disabled people were unemployed on 9th October. The Government's recently announced anti-unemployment measures should help disabled people as well as other people. The Manpower Services Commission is taking steps to improve its specialist employment and training services for disabled people. I plan to announce the Government's proposals on the future of the quota scheme and of sheltered employment, and on related matters, later this month.
