HC Deb 07 August 1975 vol 897 cc411-2W
Rev. Ian Paisley

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many houses have been handed over by Bally-castle Rural District Council to the Housing Executive; how many of these had electricity; how many had a piped water supply; how many had proper sewerage facilities; how many had full modern amenities; and how many had no amenities whatsoever.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

The numbers of dwellings transferred to the Northern Ireland Housing Executive from the former Ballycastle Urban and Rural District Councils on 5th June 1972 were 294 and 813 respectively. The other information requested is not readily available and could only be provided with a disproportionate use of resources.

However, from the results of the Housing Conditions Survey, which was carried out on the basis of the new district council areas, it is estimated that of the 1,640 Housing Executive dwellings in Moyle 1,620 had electricity and 1,420 had all basic amenities. An estimated 220 dwellings were lacking at least one basic amenity and of these an estimated 160 had no basic amenities. These figures are for October 1973.
