§ Mr. Fauldsasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will set up a Government inquiry into the plight of homeless children in London.
§ Mr. MeacherI believe that effective action can be taken without the need for a formal inquiry. An official working group, representing several Government Departments, the London Boroughs Association, and other bodies has been at 247W work and I am proposing that it should continue to meet, with some possible changes in membership, to work out a strategic response to this problem in consultation with the responsible statutory authorities. I am also considering urgently other relevant possible initiatives.
