asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) where, and on what date, the attempt on his life took place; which organisation was responsible; how many people were involved; whether the assassination squad consisted of both men and women; and in what circumstances the squad operated;

(2) what type of gun was used in the attempt on his life; how many shots were fired; and whether any spent bullets or cases were recovered;

(3) whether the loyalist detained in connection with the attempt on his life knew the charges which led to his detention; whether he appeared before the Commissioners; and with what result.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

In the House on 14th April I referred to an incident to illustrate a point in reply to a Question. Because of the nature of the information I have nothing to add.
