§ Mrs. HartThe Lomé Convention will not come fully into force until it has been ratified by the member States and two-thirds of the ACP States. Meanwhile the protocol on sugar came into effect on 1st March and signatory States have undertaken to give effect unilaterally, as from 1st July, to the trade provisions of the convention and to the agreed arrangements on rum, bananas and fishing activities. An interim committee of representatives of the signatory States is being set up to consider implementation of other provisions.
