HC Deb 28 November 1974 vol 882 cc244-5W
Mr. Snape

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will give details of his policy regarding future railway investment; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Mulley

As I told the House in June, the Government will provide an appropriate level of investment to implement continuing improvement in commuter and Inter-City passenger services, and in freight services. The figures for the next four years will be published in the annual White Paper on Public Expenditure.

Mr. Tom King

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment when the draft light railway order for the Taunton-Minehead line will be issued by his Department.

Mr. Carmichael

The order to authorise the British Railways Board to operate this line as a railway was made on 18th November. When printed copies are available I will send one to the hon. Member.
